When we decided to give our new signature line a name, “Cederberg” stood out immediately. It felt like saying something very South African - rugged, beautiful, rooted in history, yet alive and inspiring. The Cederberg is far more than a mountain range. It is a symbol of wilderness, of heritage, of beauty shaped by time. And in choosing it, we wanted our range to carry some of that same spirit.

What Is the Cederberg?
The Cederberg is a mountain wilderness area about 300 km north of Cape Town in the Western Cape. It is known for dramatic sandstone cliffs, sculpted rocky formations, and incredible landscapes that shift with light - deep reds in the morning, golds by midday, purples at sunset.
Its name comes from the Clanwilliam cedar tree (Widdringtonia cedarbergensis), a rare and endemic cedar only found in these parts. This tree gives the mountain its name and carries with it a sense of roots and rarity.
Beyond geology, the Cederberg has deep cultural and historical significance. Ancient San rock art is preserved in caves and overhangs throughout the range, telling stories of people who lived here thousands of years ago. The landscape is also famous for its biodiversity — fynbos, flora that changes with altitude, endemic species, rare proteas, unique vegetation and animals adapted to the rugged terrain.
